    Health and Safety

ISO's overriding philosophy in all undertakings is that Safety comes First and is our Number One Priority. ISO is fully committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for our employees, contractors, customers, suppliers, other worksite visitors and the community. During its history, ISO has introduced numerous safety innovations, systems and procedures aimed at eliminating workplace hazards.

ISO believes in the effectiveness of its current systems and also in the ability of its trained people to implement and carry out those systems. This belief results in everyone at all levels striving to achieve the very best possible outcome in the area of health and safety and care for the environment.

Health and Safety Systems and Procedures
ISO operates a comprehensive Health & Safety Management System that has been independently audited and certified as conforming to AS/NZ 4801.
ISO has achieved the ACC WorkSafe Management Programme to Tertiary level.
Every business unit in ISO is controlled by detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each of its operations to ensure a consistent approach to how we work and to enhance workplace safety and promote cargo handling care. These procedures are continually being reviewed and we encourage employee involvement in this area. For this reason strict adherence to our SOP is a reputation that ISO is proud of and our employees have the peace of mind knowing that we will not tolerate a breach of procedures.
ISO has a zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Random testing of employees (including contractors) regularly takes place as well as post-incident and just cause testing.
ISO continues to participate in industry Health and Safety forums and working groups through which it actively participates in the development of industry guidelines and practices. This includes liaison with WorkSafe New Zealand and Maritime New Zealand.
All ISO employees undertake a comprehensive induction and training schedule that ensures all employees are trained and qualified for the work they do.
Comprehensive Pre-shift Safety Briefings and Safe Behaviour Observations are conducted at all operational areas.
